We are Calvary Bible Church.
Our Statement of Faith:
This church has been founded upon and pledges to preach and teach the following doctrinal truths, and requires that each member subscribe to them without any reservation.
Of the Holy Scriptures:
The Holy Bible (66 books) is the whole Word of God, verbally and plenarily inspired and inerrant in the original manuscripts. The Scriptures are the final authority of life and faith.
2 Timothy 3:16 2 Peter 1:21 Isaiah 8: 20
Of the Trinity:
God is a Triune Being, One in essence and eternally existing in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
John 10:30 Deuteronomy 6:4 Matthew 3:16, 17 Acts 5:3,4 2 Corinthians 13:14
Of God the Son:
Jesus Christ is God; born of the virgin Mary; died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice; arose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, interceding for the believer, and will return again to earth imminently, personally and in that body.
John 1:1 Luke 1:35 1 Peter 1:18, 19 Luke 24:35-48 Revelation 19:11-16
Of the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is God and He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; He is the supernatural agent in regeneration; He baptizes, indwells and seals all believers at the moment of conversion unto the day of redemption.
John 16:8-11 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 Ephesians 1:13,14
Of Man:
Man was created in the image of God as a special act of God, and not evolved; man sinned by his own choice, resulting in the total depravity of the human race. Man is thus totally dependent on God's mercy and grace for redemption.
Romans 5:12 Genesis 1:26; 2:17 Ephesians 2:1 Isaiah 64:6; 53:6
Of the Atonement for Sin:
Salvation from sin's penalty, power and presence is by faith alone in Jesus Christ as personal Savior; the believer has assurance of his salvation and is secure in Christ forever. There will be no chance after this life for repentance or salvation.
John 1:12; 3:16; 5:24 Luke 16:19-31 Romans 8:1, 38, 39 1 John 5:13
Of the Interpretation of Scripture:
We accept the dispensational interpretation of Scripture, including the pretribulational and premillenial rapture of the church; a period of great tribulation on earth followed by the literal return of Christ with His saints for His millenial reign.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:9 Revelation 19:11-20:6 Zechariah 14:4-11
Of the Resurrection:
There will be a literal resurrection of the dead; the saved at the time of the rapture then to be forever with the Lord; the unsaved after the millenial reign of Christ, then to appear at the judgement of the great white throne and committed to eternal conscious torment and punishment in the lake of fire.
John 14:1-3 1 Thessalonians 4:16 Revelation 21:3-7 Matthew 25:46 Revelation 20:11-15
Of Satan:
Satan is a fallen angel, is the author of sin, the god of this world, the tempter and deceiver and he will be eternally punished with his angels in the lake of fire.
Job 1:6,7 2 Thessalonians 2:7-9 Matthew 4:2-11 Revelation 20:10
Of the Body of Christ:
There is a spiritual unity of all persons born again by the Holy Spirit; this company is called the Church or Body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:13 Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:25-27 2 Corinthians 11:2
Of the Local Church:
The local church is an assembly of regenerated persons; an independent, autonomous body having scripturally designated officers and leaders.
Acts 14:23-27; 20:17 1 Timothy 3:1-13 Titus 1:5-11
Of the Ordinance of Baptism and the Lord's Supper:
The two ordinances given to the Church for this age are: Baptism, which is the immersion in water of those who profess saving faith in Jesus Christ, to be observed as an act of obedience to God's Word and a public testimony to salvation; and Communion, or the Lord's Table, to be regularly observed by believers as a memorial of Christ's death until he returns.
Matthew 28:19 Romans 6:3-5 Acts 8:36, 37 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 Luke 22:19
